Arsenic is tasteless and odourless, so only laboratory testing reveals it. Effective removal starts by oxidising trivalent arsenic to the pentavalent form, which is then captured on selective iron-oxide media or co-precipitated with a coagulant and filtered. Regular outlet testing tells you when the media needs replacing.
