UV-C light at 254 nm damages the DNA of bacteria, viruses and protozoa so they cannot reproduce. Water flows around a quartz-sleeved lamp in a stainless reactor and is disinfected in seconds — with nothing added. Correct sizing for flow and transmittance, plus yearly lamp replacement, keeps the dose effective.
